Mark is the central cog in a multi-generational home building legacy that began over 60 years ago. Mark first began building alongside his parents, developing the extremely popular active adult communities of Apache Wells and Apache Country Club Estates now known as Arizona Golf Resort in Mesa.

Thirty years ago, Mark expanded the family legacy by forming Hughes Development which later became MS Hughes Inc. and Hughes Construction II, LLC. Mark went on to build the four-award winning active adult communities of Apache Wells II and Verde Groves in Mesa, Vistoso Village in Oro Valley, and Las Campanas Village in Green Valley. Since 2008 he transitioned into semi-custom home building, finishing out the communities of Mountain Whisper in Gold Canyon and The Village at South Mountain in Phoenix. 

In 2018, Mark relocated to the beautiful Payson, AZ area where he resides today and is known as Payson’s premier custom home builder.

Over the past 30 years, Mark Hughes has built over 1300 homes, and is recognized both locally and nationally as an award winning home builder.

April joined Hughes Construction II in 2013, bringing over 30 years experience as an interior designer and interior remodeler to the company. April also brought 15 years of land, property and real estate experience to further round out the full suite of in-house services they offer today. Regardless of where their clients are in the buying process, April’s vast expertise serves as a critical component to helping buyers create the spaces they’ve envisioned. 

Together, Mark and April have been dubbed by clients as the “Dynamic Duo” of custom home building, and now reside and serve clients looking to build in the Payson and surrounding golf and mountain retirement communities.
